Going somewhere boring with my mom?

My mom is going to a friends house for her granddaughters 1st birthday, i hardly know the people, and my mom KNOWS i don't want to go. I'm sort of anti-social when it comes to these things, and all they do is sit there and talk about how it was when they were kids and how cute the baby is. My moms said if i'm going to sit there and keep my mouth shut the whole time i should just stay home. My mom does not get the fact that i ENJOY being alone. The quiet,especially. Can someone please give me a tip on how to "enjoy" myself? :(
